Hoymiles Hi Battery

Cut bills day and night

Charge the battery when power is cheap (overnight, off-peak, or from your balcony/rooftop solar). Discharge when prices spike in the evening. Paired with smart tariffs and good usage habits, battery storage can help households cut around £150 from electricity bills. Actual savings vary by tariff, usage and system size.

Perfect for flats, renters and small homes

0.02 m³ footprint and wall or floor mounting means it fits easily in a hallway, under a window or in a utility nook. Because it’s AC-coupled, it can work with existing solar (balcony or rooftop) or without solar, just using off-peak grid energy.

Quiet, safe and built to last

LiFePO₄ cells with >6,000 cycles and a 10-year warranty. Internal fire-extinguisher and pressure relief valves, plus IP66 enclosure for robust protection. Fanless natural cooling keeps noise under 17 dB(A)..  quieter than a whisper.

Smarter energy, less effort

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connect to the S-Miles Home app. Choose self-consumption mode (use more of your own solar) or Time-of-Use (TOU) mode for AI-driven charge/discharge schedules.

How It Works in Your Home

1. Charging

  • From balcony or rooftop solar via a microinverter.
  • Or from the grid on a cheap overnight tariff.

2. Storing

  • Energy is stored in the 1.92 kWh LiFePO₄ battery inside the HiBattery 1920 AC.

3. Using

  • The on-grid port supplies up to 800 VA back into your home circuits, reducing the power you draw from the grid.
  • The off-grid port can power essential appliances directly during outages or for dedicated load

4. Managing

The S-Miles Home app tracks solar generation, battery charge level and home load, and can integrate with smart meters such as Shelly Pro 3EM for precise control.

Safe, Legal & Fully Installed in the UK

Why this battery is not a plug-and-play gadget

High-capacity home batteries like the HiBattery 1920 AC move real power around your home. Under UK wiring rules and safety standards, they must be treated as part of your fixed electrical installation, not as a simple plug-in appliance.

That means:

No DIY wiring, NO “just plug it into to a wall socket or an extension lead”.
A competent, qualified electrician must install, test and sign off the system.Correct protection (RCD/RCBOs, breakers, cabling) and notification to your DNO may be required depending on your setup.

SaveOnWatts only offers the HiBattery 1920 AC as a fully installed system, so you stay on the right side of UK rules and your insurance and warranties remain valid.

Is This Battery Right for You?

Renters

  • Your landlord is OK with a small wall or floor-mounted unit and a tidy cable run, but not a roof-full of panels.
  • You like the idea of a portable asset you could potentially relocate in future (subject to re-installation).
  • You’re often on a time-of-use or smart tariff and can shift usage into cheaper hours.

Flat & apartment dwellers

  • Limited space, but still want meaningful storage, 1.92 kWh is a sweet spot for typical flats.
  • Combine with balcony solar for maximum self-consumption and lower export.
  • Want quiet, discreet hardware that doesn’t dominate your home.

Small homeowners

  • You don’t need a 10–15 kWh “garage monster”, you want a compact, efficient battery that attacks your most expensive hours.
  • You may expand later with further units (subject to design and regulations); the HiBattery can operate as part of a wider AC-coupled system.

FAQ

1. Can I install the HiBattery myself?

No. For UK customers we only offer this as a professionally installed system. High-capacity batteries must be wired, protected and tested correctly to comply with UK standards and to keep your warranty and insurance valid. DIY or plug-and-play use isn’t supported.

2. Do I need solar panels to benefit?

No. You can:

  • Charge the battery from the grid on cheap overnight tariffs and use it when prices are higher.
  • Or combine it with balcony or rooftop solar to store your own excess generation instead of exporting it for pennies.

3. How much could I save?

Savings depend on your tariff, how much electricity you use, when you use it and whether you have solar. In many cases, combining a smart tariff with battery storage can help households cut their bills by up to £150 a year, but your actual result may be higher or lower.

4. What can I power with 1.92 kWh?

Examples (approximate):

  • Wi-Fi router + lights + laptop for an evening.
  • A modern fridge-freezer plus TV and Internet for several hours.

A mix of essential loads during a short outage.

You can also “spread” the benefit by letting the battery cover your background usage over many hours, rather than running a single large appliance flat-out.

5. Will it work inside or in an unheated space?

Yes. The HiBattery is designed to operate from -20°C to +55°C, and includes built-in self-heating to protect the cells when charging in low temperatures.

6. How noisy is it?

It uses natural convection cooling with no fans, so operation is extremely quiet – under 17 dB(A), which is quieter than a typical whisper.

7. What happens during a power cut?

If configured with the off-grid port and permitted by your installation design, the HiBattery can supply up to 800 VA of backup power from its dedicated socket, letting you keep key devices running during an outage. Exact behaviour will be explained during your survey and depends on how we configure your system.

8. Can I add more batteries later?

Yes – up to 6 HiBattery units can be connected in one system using the manufacturer’s stacking and parallel connection kit, subject to electrical design limits and UK regulations. Your installer will advise what’s possible in your property.

9. How long does installation take?

Most installs can be completed in up to 1 day on site, depending on cable runs and whether we’re integrating with existing solar. We’ll confirm a time window after your survey.

10. What support do I get after installation?

You’ll have:

Access to SaveOnWatts Help Center with guides and troubleshooting.

  • Email, phone and WhatsApp support during UK business hours.
  • Annual maintenance checks.
  • Warranty assistance should anything go wrong with the hardware.
